OTT platforms have given works to many actors, directors and other technicians of filmmaking. Audience feels the content on OTT platforms is relatable and artistic. Many actors believe that these streaming apps value and respect art and artists. Now, actor Chandan Roy Sanyal, of Kaminey (2009) fame has opined on the same. He is extremely thrilled with the characters and roles he is getting to play.
Chandan Roy Sanyal talks about OTT Platforms:
Sanyal said, “My OTT experience started last year and has been quite gratifying. As a medium, I really enjoy doing films but I never got good opportunities to soar or showcase my acting abilities in films as I hardly had any scope in films. Often, I had few scenes and few minutes on screen. I was jostling for space to perform. Usually, people ask me ‘What went wrong after Kaminey?’ I reply, nothing went wrong. I was doing the best I could in the small roles I got. But, OTT has changed things for me.”
He also talked about the odds that struck his life and yet he overcame them. He added, “Now, my characters are spread out over nine hours in a web series and I have the space to create my own graph, add nuances to the character, which was missing for me in films. OTT has given a boost to my career.”
He has recently shot for an anthology by the director who has won National Award, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. Chandan Roy is definitely fond of the filmmaker. He said that he has known the filmmaker even before Pink (2016). In addition, they spend great time eating and discussing films even when they are not working together. This further made him immediately grab the opportunity with the director. He said, “I will always love to work with him over and over again.”
