Suniel Shetty started his journey in Bollywood Industry on his own. The self-made actor has had a fair share of struggles. However, the actor believes that the nepotism debate is baseless. Dismissing the ugly game of name-calling, the actor in an interview with Times of India gave insights on the star-kid debate. The arguments and discussions have come into picture post Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
Suniel Shetty talks about Nepotism:
When asked about his views on the nepotism debate, Suniel said, “This whole talk about nepotism hurts. It is something that is there in every field. Is my son or daughter not allowed to dream of becoming an actor just because their father is an actor? Does that mean the dream of that child needs to be squashed? “
The actor also mentioned that he runs an online hunt for talent. He helps almost two lakh seventy thousand kids to get work. In other words, the actor believes if he is working for such a huge crowd then there’s nothing wrong with his own kids trying to get work. When asked about how Athiya and Ahan feel about this, he said, “For them, nepotism itself means that they are a part of it. They ask me if it means that they cannot dream of becoming an actor. They know I didn’t come from a film family.”
The actor also said that taking an advantage of being a star-kid works only for the first film. Later, its the audience, subject of film and co-actors who make or break the child’s career.
Shetty also won an award for promoting new talent in India from the Government of India. For which he said, “We were the only app for casting and opportunity. It shouts out loud and clear that it is not about nepotism but talent.”
