Bollywood’s yesteryear’s actress is no more. Veteran actress Kumkum passed away at the age of 86. She died on 27th July 2020. Kumkum had worked in more than 100 Bollywood movies. The reason for her death is still not revealed. Born on 22 April 1934 in Sheikhpura, Bihar, Kumkum’s real name was Zaibunnissa. His father was the Nawab of Hussainabad.
Her notable work includes Mother India, Kohinoor, Ujala, Ek Sapera Ek Lootera, Naya Daur, Raja Aur Runk, Geet, Aankhen, Lalkar, etc She was also the leading lady of first Bhojpuri film Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo (1963).

The news of her death has surfaced today on the headlines. The actress had worked with many prominent personalities in the film industry. Actress Kumkum was considered as the discovery of Guru Dutt. The legendary Gurudutt was supposed to film the song “Kabhi Ar Kabhi Paar Laga Tire Nazar,” from his film Ar Paar (1954) on actor Jagdeep. But later Gurudutt felt that it should be shot on a woman. However, no actress agreed to do a short song in a movie. Then finally Guru Dutt portrayed this song on Kumkum. Later Guru Dutt also gave her a small character in his film Pyaasa.
The late veteran actress had acted in 115 films in her entire career. She has worked with many superstars of her era, including Kishore Kumar and Guru Dutt. She gave some brilliant performances in movies like Mr. X in Bombay (1964), Mother India (1957), Son of India (1962), Kohinoor (1960), Ujala, Naya Daur, Sriman Funtoosh, Ek Sapera Ek Lootera.
