Producer Guneet Monga and Netflix are getting ready to release a bare-it-all docu-film based on the life of hip hop artist and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, the universally adored and recognised artist who has multiple hit songs to his credit, following the historic win at the Oscars earlier this week. He is no stranger to controversy and will now go into his life and abrupt absence at the height of his fame, which shocked the business and his followers and attracted a lot of media attention. Yo Yo Honey Singh will take his followers through the unseen and unheard chapters of his life with his raw and candid admissions that capture both his highs and his lows in this Oscar-winning Sikhya Entertainment production and Mozez Singh-directed film.
The New Delhi kid broke into the music business in 2003 with his Punjabi raps. By 2011, Yo Yo Honey Singh had completely revolutionised the business with his numerous blockbusters. Including Brown Rang, Desi Kalakaar, Blue Eyes, and numerous other popular Bollywood songs. He has received recognition for gradually integrating the subgenre of “desi hip hop” into popular culture and the nation’s music industry. His songs once dominated every music chart, party, and radio station. He was one of India’s earliest online sensations.
The documentary documents this emotional and professional journey and includes interviews with Yo Yo Honey Singh’s family, friends, and musicians. They have supported him throughout it all as well as behind-the-scenes footage from Hirdesh Singh.
Guneet Monga:
Yo Yo Honey Singh commented on the documentary by saying, “I have discussed my personal and professional concerns in the public before. But I’ve never been able to bare it all. My followers have shown me so much affection. And they deserve to know the real truth. Everyone will get an honest and real account of my life, upbringing, and places I’ve gone. And present journey to come back stronger in this Netflix documentary.”
According to Sikhya Entertainment’s Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga, “Yo Yo Honey Singh took over the Indian Music business by storm. The young people connected with his songs. Singh was well-known before he made headlines in the media. His turbulent rise to popularity captivated the entire country, including us at Sikhya. I wanted to delve deeper into this narrative. Happily, Netflix has consistently encouraged and shared distinctive, different local tales with a worldwide audience, providing a setting that is ideal for a bare-it-all, real docu-film like this. We can’t wait for you to get to know the man who created the rap and hip-hop genres in our country. And to find out about the path that got him to where he is now and the controversy that followed.”
