Narayani Shashtri, who is presently featured in the TV serial Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha as Rajvee Raval, says she has never shied away from portraying mother characters. Even when she was younger, Narayani confesses that the character, not the age, was what counted.
Narayani Shashtri on ageing on screen
“I portrayed Akashdeep Saigal’s mother in Kkusum many years ago. Was in my twenties at the time, and that didn’t bother me since I’d never bothered about aging on film, or in real life for that matter. I have no problems about portraying a saas or a mother if the part is substantial, focused on me, and pushes me. I should be delighted performing the show.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a lead part or not. I can’t play a 20-year-old dancing around trees or romancing a college student my age. Those days are gone when women had to transition to traditional mom positions. There is no shortage of powerful female characters in today’s television and cinema productions.
Anupamaa is an excellent illustration of how, if an actress waits long enough, she may obtain fascinating parts. This entire viewpoint that just a hero or heroine’s part is significant is incorrect. My character, I believe, should be vital to the program, and its absence should be felt by viewers. That’s how I pick my characters. It needs to be a powerful display pillar.
Krutika Desai, a seasoned television performer, is a fantastic example of how individuals may keep getting intriguing parts. In Pandya Store, she plays an intriguing role.”
Narayani is now residing in Goa, however, she is filming her show in Mumbai. In Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha, she plays Vijayendra Kumeria’s mother. “I miss my spouse a lot. However, I am grateful that I was cast in such a fascinating part amid such trying circumstances. I kept myself occupied in Goa for the final two months before I started shooting for the program by painting and playing with my pets,” she remarked of being away from home.
