Disney Movie Snow White To Feature 7 Magical Creatures
In the live-action adaptation, the renowned Disney princess will be played by Rachel Ziegler. The Daily Mail’s first glimpse, which features Ziegler in the traditional blue and yellow attire with a red cape around her neck, got viewers’ attention, but another image purportedly showing the seven friends of Snow White also caught their attention.
According to the article, a source involved in the ongoing production said, “The seven creatures will look more like the hobbits in JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings or the trolls in Frozen. A face with eyes, a nose, and a mouth will be on their two legs and two arms. But not genuinely be human,” the insider continued. In post-production, these characters will go through the CGI process.
What led to the original story’s modification?
Disney’s decision to substitute magical beings for the dwarfs is generally credited to Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage. In the previous year, he expressed his disapproval of the “backward” plot of “seven dwarfs living in a cave.”
Mar Maron’s WTF podcast had Peter Dinklage saying, “I was a little taken aback when they [Disney] were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs. It makes no sense to me. What the [heck] are you doing, man? You’re forward-thinking in one manner, but you’re still making that outdated tale about seven dwarfs sharing a cave. Have I done nothing from my platform to help the cause? I guess I’m not loud enough,” the Game of Thrones actor continued.
The next movie, which will be helmed by Marc Webb, will expand on the plot and score of the 1937 version by utilizing new songs written by renowned songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The evil Evil Queen, who will threaten Snow White, is played by Gal Gadot in this rendition.
