Indian film diva Deepika Padukone is not only an exceptional actress, but she is also a strong-headed woman. The actress is loved for her philanthropical nature. Recently, the actress spoke about her initiative and how it is NOT a paid project for her.
Deepika recently made headlines for being on the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle’s podcast. She spoke about her cause and the meaning behind it. During her talk with Meghan, Deepika revealed how people used to think that she was being paid to talk about mental health, and it was not her honest cause.
Deepika Padukone:
DP said, “For most of India, it felt like this huge burden lifted off their shoulders. That finally, someone acknowledged the fact that okay, there is such a thing as mental illness but with everything good that you do they’ll always be sort of that scepticism.”
She elaborates saying, “There were several people who thought that I have been doing this for the money. Or that I am trying to promote an upcoming film of mine. So, much so that a few rumours were that I am associated with a pharmaceutical company and being paid by them. They believed that I will soon start advertising some medicine.”
Continuing further, the Om Shanti Om actress added, “As difficult as dealing with mental illness was, I’m also grateful that I went through that experience because it changed my life forever. My life then on has been about purpose, and what is my purpose? I’ve had this sort of life-and-death experience.”
