Actor Shweta Basu Prasad has done movies like Makdee (2002), Iqbal (2005), Mard ko Dard Nahi Hota (2018) among other films. But with the advent of OTT platforms she has started getting roles. She feels OTT platforms have given work to many people, especially actors like her. She also went on to talk about the need of art- music, book and cinema, to survive in a pandemic like this. In an interview with a news portal, she also said that if not OTT, then she would be doing character roles in films or lead in a TV show.

The actress was talked about how OTT platforms have changed the times. She said, “OTT has given work to actors like me.” She also added that she has never been this busy in her life. In addition, she appreciated how web projects are giving respect to writers. She was quoted as, “This is common for every actor like me who are getting good roles. Web projects give respect to writers who then create characters that can shine, so content has become king and due to that actors like me are getting really substantial roles. Had it not been for OTT projects, I’d be doing character roles in films or lead in a TV show. Before The Tashkent Files (2019), I didn’t get good enough roles but now I am.”

The actress is thoroughly enjoying herself while doing web shows and short films. She pointed, she loves watching her favourite actors like Neena Gupta, Pankaj Kapur, Kumud Mishra, Sanjay Mishra playing lead roles in OTT shows. She also shared the need of art in today’s times. “People of all ages and all kinds of images are getting work, provided you are a good actor. In fact, in the pandemic taught us that we need art- books, music and cinema- to survive and this is the time,” she said.
