The nominations for the eagerly awaited 14th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) have been made public. The biggest Indian film festival held outside of India, IFFM continues to enthral viewers around. The festival is pleased to announce the inclusion of Oscar-winning Australian director Bruce Beresford to its elite jury this year. Beresford is known for helming critically acclaimed films including ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ and ‘The Contract’.
IFFM stands as a noteworthy celebration of Indian cinema and cultural exchange because it is the first Indian film festival outside of Indian land that is supported by a government from another nation. The festival, which has its finger on the pulse of the business, will launch the OTT Awards in 2021 in response to the shifting environment of movie consumption. The OTT Awards, now in their third year, will recognise exceptional accomplishments in three categories.
After carefully examining hundreds of films and TV shows from the entire Indian film industry, the IFFM advisory council has decided on the nominations for films and TV shows that debuted between 1 June 2022 and 31 May 2023. Leading the pack in the film categories, such as Best Film, Best Actor, and Best Actress, are well-known works like “Darlings,” “Monica O My Darling,” “Ponniyin Selvan,” and “Kantara.” Audiences have been enthralled by these films’ superb acting, compelling plots, and aesthetic brilliance. The nominations honour both blockbusters and independent gems on the same stage, reflecting the diversity and depth of Indian cinema.
