Tanishaa Mukerji is about to embark on a new chapter in her career with the release of a short film titled “Life is short.” The actor, who has been on series like Bigg Boss 7, Khatrona Ke Khiladi 7, and others, reflects on her career. The actress discussed how the reality show made her smarter, her decision to freeze her eggs at the age of 39, frequent comparisons with her mother Tanuja and sister Kajol and more in an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV.
On The Upcoming Short Film
It’s a fascinating character. I’m portraying a disillusioned personality. It’s a great topic. It’s a film that will leave a lasting impression. We shot it before the epidemic, but it was postponed due to the outbreak.
On Life Is Short
Of course, there have been numerous instances like this. We’ve all had similar experiences in our lives. Your existence is intertwined with your insecurities. If you don’t feel uneasy, you won’t attempt to accomplish more in life than you already have. There are times in life when you feel insecure, but you push those feelings aside because you believe life is too short. I’ve had my fair share of insecurities. There have been times in my life when everyone expected me to look like Kajol, act like Kajol, and beat Kajol, especially at the beginning of my career. ‘I can’t be her,’ I thought. She has green eyes, is considerably taller than me, has curly hair, and is completely unlike me.’
When Tanuja (mom) was concerned, I’m sure she had it as well. We coped with it, and thankfully for us, we have a wonderful mother who exudes such confidence. ‘You need to shine, you are a person, and you need to be yourself,’ she would remind us.
On comparisons
When you’re younger, these things have an impact on you. I still feel sorry for those who make comparisons. It may come out as a little egotistical on my side, but I don’t calculate it in my head. There are no two persons alike on this planet. There isn’t a single soul that can be compared to another. Individuality is something we all have. Comparisons become obsolete the minute you begin to enjoy.
No one cared, and that was the most amusing part. My family is stunning. They embrace and adore me for who I am. ‘Baby, I believe you in your decisions because you will act on the principles established in you,’ my mother said. We adore and admire each other. We don’t talk about anyone.
About freezing eggs
At the age of 33, I wanted to preserve my eggs! When I went to my doctor at the time she prevented me from doing so. She warned me that it will take a toll on my body, but that I should do it if I had no prospect of having a kid. It’s a matter of personal preference. And nowadays, not having children is completely acceptable. Adopt, there isn’t enough of you in the world. More people should get out and discuss this. It is OK for women to choose not to have children. You have more than one vocation in your life. It’s acceptable not to get married, be in a relationship, or define yourself in the company of a guy.
My grandmother and other women of her generation did not define themselves by their relationships with men. We’ve made a blunder somewhere in the middle. My grandma had a strong, wonderful personality that she never associated with a guy. Tanuja, my mother has always told me that I don’t need to be married to have a child since I was a teenager. My mother has always been a strong, progressive, and forward-thinking figure in my life. That is something I admire about her. My sister also supported me. I’m surrounded by powerful females.
