In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Neena Gupta admitted that time and again she has felt lonely in life. The reason for the same was she did not have a boyfriend or a husband in her life for a very long time. In addition, she shared that she overcame the loneliness strongly as she does not dwell in the past.
Neena Gupta opens up on Feeling Lonely & How Her Father Helped Her
Neena said, “Very often I have felt lonely. In fact, my father was my boyfriend; he was the man of the house. It has happened when I was disrespected at work. But God has given me the power that I’m always able to move on. I don’t dwell on the past.”
The actress had her daughter Masaba after a brief relationship with former West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards. Neena had Masaba with the cricket icon in the eighties. However, she never married the cricketer. Thereafter, she went on to raise her daughter as a single mother. Fortunately, Neena found her love after years of feeling lonely. She married Vivek Mehra, a New Delhi-based chartered accountant, on July 15, 2008. But only last year due to the lockdown, Neena and Vivek got the chance to live life as wife and husband for the first time.
The actress told Film Companion, “Initially, I used to crib, ‘Arre, we are together, but I hardly see you. You are always on the phone, I can’t talk to you.’ But now he says, ‘Arre, you are so busy! You are always on a call.’ And I am very happy like that, so I have learnt that I have to be busy myself. I read or do whatever.” She added that she cannot depend on him for my happiness or time to share. “I call up my girlfriends and I talk to them. This first lockdown has changed a lot for me,” said the actress.
Neena lives in Mumbai. On the other hand, Vivek lives in Delhi.
