The romantic thriller Anjaam Movie is celebrating 28 years of its release. The film was released 28 years ago on April 22, 1994. Today, the film is fondly remembered for its evergreen songs and moreover, for the very first collaboration of Madhuri Dixit and Shah Rukh Khan. This was the time when our Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan played the antagonist character.
For this film, Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Villain award, and this was his second consecutive nomination in this category at the Filmfare Awards, after Darr (1993). Along with Madhuri Dixit and Shah Rukh Khan, actor Deepak Tijori was also a part of the Anjaam movie. However, when Deepak was asked if he regretted doing any movie, he said, “I only regretted doing Anjaam.”
Anjaam Movie:
Deepak explained, “I was not happy with the way it was made and structured. By the time we were in Mauritius, there was a strike here. We were stuck in that country. The script was not ready.”
He further added, “The director (Rahul Rawail) started writing a script completely in favour of Madhuri Dixit. He gave a raw deal to my and Shah Rukh Khan’s character. Shah Rukh and I used to wonder, ‘Yeh director kya kar raha hai’. He had our dates, and so he was doing whatever he wanted. It was a good opportunity missed.”
Deepak Tijori also shared an incident of a fight scene. Here he was supposed to hit back at SRK’s character. However, the director stopped him, and the fight master Tinnu Verma was stunned. When he tried to reason with him the director told him ‘This is not in your film. Who’s the director?’.
The actor further said that we are not puppets, and he has also worked with bigwig directors like Mahesh Bhatt, Mansoor Khan, Kundan Shah, Abbas-Mustan, and they always considered what the actors had to say because they could feel the character they are playing. Regardless, the director told him, ‘Tu usko maarega hi nahi’, and he replied, ‘Aap banao jaisi film aapko banani hai’.
