A plea had been sent to the Delhi High court against the upcoming Akshay Kumar movie Prithviraj. The plea demanded the makers change the title. However, the Delhi High court has denied entertaining the name-change plea. For the unversed, Akshay Kumar starrer film Prithviraj is a historical period drama film based on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, the legendary ruler of Delhi.
On Monday, the Delhi High court announced that it has refused to entertain the plea that demanded a name change in the upcoming movie Prithiviraj. Apart from the action Khiladi Akshar Kumar, the film also stars Manushi Chhillar in the lead role. Prithviraj is produced under the Yash Raj Films banner.

A bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Neena Bansal Krishna said it was inclined to dismiss the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) with costs after which the petitioner’s counsel sought permission to withdraw the plea. Moreover, the court even gave the liberty to the petitioner to withdraw the plea without any conditions.
The petitioner Rashtriya Pravasi Parishad submitted that Samrat Prithviraj was a great emperor, and putting movie title only as Prithviraj hurts the sentiments of the public at large, and it should be more respectful. The plea suggested that the movie’s name should be modified as Great Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. It claimed that using the great warrior’s name without respectful prefixes is contrary to the Cinematograph Act. The court, however, refused to entertain the plea.
