With the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the filmmakers are apprehensive of releasing the films now. The state of Maharashtra is even seeing the complete shutdown of the theatres and cinema halls. This has given a big blow to the producers of the movies. Rohit Shetty’s directorial Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar, is one such film whose release date is badly affected because of coronavirus.

“Team Sooryavanshi postpones the release of the film. The Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr Uddhav Thackeray had a discussion with director Rohit Shetty yesterday. In the meeting, Mr Uddhav Thackeray appreciated Rohit Shetty as he took the brave and difficult decision of postponing Sooryavanshi owing to the current COVID situation in the state,” reads a statement issued by the makers of the Rohit Shetty directorial.
On the occasion of Rohit Shetty’s birthday, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh had announced that the movie Sooryavanshi will hit screens on April 30. The original release date of the film was set in 2020. However, due to the scary pandemic, the film was kept on hold. The two actors had posted a teaser video talking about how the film’s trailer released on that day, last year.

Other films that are struggling to release are Amitabh Bachchan-Emraan Hashmi starrer Chehre, Rani Mukerji-Saif Ali Khan starrer Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Rana Daggubati-starrer Haathi Mere Saathi. The release dates of these films have yet again been postponed. Read more here.
