The Indian citizens never think twice to lash at new changes. The same thing happened when a jewelry ad was taken down because it showed inter-caste marriage. The shocking thing was that this outrage was supported by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and many other politicians. Now, again another jewelry ad taken down.
This ad starred Alaya F, Neena Gupta, Sayani Gupta, and Nimrat Kaur. These pretty ladies were talking about Diwali festivities in the ad, however, netizens didn’t like this ad too. It is not new that celebrities and actors are often targeted by cyberbullying and trolls. However, established brands too, have to face these biased consequences of the public. After facing backlash for featuring an inter-faith couple and “hurting religious sentiments,” which led to the withdrawal of their ad, the same popular jewelry brand has now been forced to pull down its Diwali campaign.
Jewelry ad taken down:
The ad went where these actresses are talking about the Diwali festival. “I am hoping to meet my mom after really long, definitely not firecrackers. I don’t think anybody should light any firecrackers, but a lot of diyas,” Sayani Gupta says in the ad. Her, “I don’t think anybody should light firecrackers” faced backlash. Now, their new ad was stopped by a new perspective.
A section of social media users took offense at the “advice” to avoid firecrackers. BJP National General Secretary from Karnataka CT Ravi lashed out at the jewelry brand and said, “Why should anyone advise Hindus how to celebrate our festivals? Companies must focus on selling their products, not lecture us to refrain from bursting crackers. We will light lamps, distribute sweets, and burst green crackers. Please join us. You will understand Ekatvam,” taking a dig at the jewelry brand’s Ekatvam campaign.

However, few sensible people on the internet backed the brand and praised the ad. It is sad, that our Indian society is still stuck in religious discrimination.
