The lethal virus has taken many things from us, and one of its kills is the music industry. Music has faded from the loves of hundreds of background dancers.

They do stay in the backdrop, though, they provide a vital contrast to the stars upfront. Background dancers are also crucial cogs in the song and dance engine that keeps the mainstream Hindi film industry surging. However, now that the lockdown has extended, the extravagant dance sequences that gave them their livelihoods have gone.
Since March 18th, the shootings in the film, T.V., and other platforms, have been banned. Due to this, many have got zero income for months with no assurance of the future. One of the members of the 800-strong Cine Dance Association said that he was rehearsing for a dance sequence for the film “Bunty Aur Babli 2” in the Yash Raj Films studio when the lockdown was announced. This was his last work, and the last payment, that was Rs 3000. Said the 32-year-old, sole provider for his family.
Talking about the charities from the big Bollywood celebrities, he has only received a coupon of Big Bazaar worth Rs 1,500 from Amitabh Bachchan and Rs 3,000 from Salman Khan in April. This is the only money he got since the lockdown in India. The dancer named Tej, further said, he cannot sleep at night due to the anxiety and tension of the daily necessities and EMI for his recently bought house in suburban Mumbai.
Tej has been working in the Bollywood industry since 2007. Talking about his living situation, he says, it is very hard to survive with limited money on hand.
