Fukrey 3 was formally confirmed as beginning production in April of this year. The actors who play Hunny and Choocha in the popular comedic series, Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma, announced the news on Instagram. Then the second COVID-19 wave arrived, bringing with it yet another round of lockdown, and everyone’s plans, even the Fukrey team’s, were thrown out the window. Fans of the Fukrey series were wondering when the shoot for part 3 would finally begin, and what the delay meant for the ultimate release, as the situation slowly but surely returned to some sort of normalcy. We’ve got those answers right here for you.
Fukrey 3 shooting to begin by year-end
Richa Chadha confirmed that Fukrey 3 was in the works when she shared a film of a virtual reading session with Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, and Varun Sharma in September. Director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba has been struggling to get the comedy escapade off the ground for over a year. If it hadn’t been for the pandemic, the filmmaker claims he would have started the next adventure of Bholi Punjaban and the four good-for-nothings in April.
“We were planning on putting it on floors on April 15, but the lockdown thwarted our plans. We’ll start filming towards the end of the year. Before coming on set, we want things to calm down; people should feel safe and psychologically prepared,” Lamba states.
Numerous Hindi films are now in production. Fukrey filmmaker claims that the current state of uncertainty prevents him from bringing the laugh riot into action. “We have no idea what will happen next. I don’t want to start [the project] and then abandon it halfway through. I’d want to start and complete in one sitting.”
When asked whether he ever considered converting Fukrey into a web series, he replied, “Fukrey is a haven for me. It was created as a film, and audiences enjoy seeing it in theaters.”
