Kara Johar has started a foundation in the memory of his late father Yash Johar. On June 18, 2021, the filmmaker Karan Johar announced the launch of the Yash Johar Foundation, created in memory of his father.
The actor shared a special video featuring many old photos of producer Yash Johar with his industry colleagues. The video also includes pictures of the filmmaker with his dad. The foundation has been set up to help people from the Indian film industry. In a voice-over, the filmmaker explained the motive behind the launch of the foundation.

Karan Johar on his latest Yash Johar foundation says, “This has been a true labour of love… created in memory of my incredible father and to carry forward his legacy. I am proud to launch the Yash Johar Foundation, which has been set up to improve the quality of life for people in the Indian entertainment industry. While we have initiated the implementation of long-term sustainable plans that will enhance the lives of people and their families in the industry, we have also ensured that immediate solutions are being provided to help them deal with the effects of the ongoing global pandemic.”
Karan also went on to his official Twitter account and shared the same. Karan Johar is one of the most successful producers in Bollywood. He worked as an assistant on many films produced by his father, Yash Johar. He began his Bollywood journey as an assistant director to Aditya Chopra for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). Karan made his directorial debut with the 1998 film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kajol. He produces films under the banner Dharma Productions.
