A rising number of people are becoming fans of Vishal Bhardwaj’s most recent short film, Fursat, directed by Wamiqa Gabbi. All of the characters, including Wamiqa, had to improve their dancing because the movie heavily relies on dance to tell its story. Even though she is a seasoned Kathak dancer, the actress spent more than two weeks practising contemporary dance moves. The actress had to fly between shoots for the other film she was working on and her commitment to the project’s training.
Wamiqa Gabbi & Ishaan Khatter:
“Dance is a type of language that Vishal Sir utilised in this movie,” Wamiqa claims. “The instructions I received stated that regardless of where you stand or what position you are in. Everyone should appear to be a mirror image of one another. We have primarily employed modern dance steps. Which required that we be precise with our timing. Even though I have Kathak dancing experience. I trained in contemporary dance for over two weeks and practised in all of my spare time in between shoots. Just happy that all the effort has finally paid off. On my days off, I would fly to Mumbai to practise with my tutor because I was filming for another project.” The actress adds.
Ishan Khatter is a featured actor in the 30-minute film, which was recently made available on YouTube. Apple CEO Tim Cook commended the short film, which has received plaudits for its dancing and cinematography. The short film depicts the tale of a guy named Nishant who, with the use of an antiquated artefact called Doordarshak, is able to see into the future.
The next time we’ll see Wamiqa is in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Khufiya, which also stars Tabu and Ali Fazal. She most recently appeared in the Amazon Prime Video anthology series Modern Love: Mumbai, which is a translation of the popular American series of the same name Modern Love. She appeared in Vishal Bharadwaj’s film Mumbai Dragon. For the unversed, this will be the first time the audience will get to see this young and forthcoming pair together on screen. The audience is excited to see them both create magic.
