The hype and promotions for the latest Bollywood film 83 were over-the-top. However, still, the film didn’t do good at the box office. Bollywood Hush is here to decode the reason behind why the 83 movie was a theatrical flop. Let us tell you, there are times when a film doesn’t go wrong, however, the box office numbers do. And the recently released Ranveer Singh starrer 83 is an example of one of these films.
83 movie:
83 movie is directed by the ace Bollywood director Kabir Khan. Along with Ranveer Singh, the film stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role. Let us tell you, the film had mounted on a budget of Rs 250 crore. However, due to delays in the shoot because of the fatal Covid-19 virus, the budget elevated to 280 crores. Now, recovering this was a big task for the film. Even in the pre-pandemic time, it is a difficult thing to achieve for a film. As per our speculations, the fault goes on the producers (Prime ones being Reliance Entertainment & Kabir Khan). As they failed to estimate the reach of 83’s screenplay.
Now, the filmmakers have recovered approximately Rs 150 crore from non-theatrical sources. This includes the rebate from the UK government. Now, what’s left is 130 crores to be recovered from the theatrical medium. To even reach the break-even point the film had to fetch Rs 230 crore in the domestic belt and 60 crores in the overseas market. However, as per our speculations, 83 is looking to collect a share of Rs 55 to 60 crore domestically. Whereas, the overseas share is expected to be in the range of Rs 26 to 28 crore. The overall theatrical recovery of 83’ will be in the range of 80 crores, leaving a void of Rs 50 crore in the pockets of producers.
So, this was all about the film 83. Stay tuned to Bollywood Hush for the latest updates on new Bollywood movies.
