The Lord of the Rings previously made a tremendous cinematic comeback with The Rings of Power. And it’s now doing the same. Future Lord of the Rings films will be released since Warner Bros. and Middle-earth Enterprises have a contract for new films to begin production in February 2023. Though The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will be released first.

The anime prequel film’s 2024 theatrical release was officially confirmed last year after it was first reported in June 2021. Philippa Boyens, a co-writer of the first trilogy has provided advice on the next film. On April 12, 2024, Warner Bros’ The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will be released in theatres. Animation and New Line Cinema are creating an animated movies. It seems that studios are revisiting JRR Tolkien’s series more than 20 years after the conclusion of the original trilogy, intent on discovering every corner and crevice of the land as well as every enigmatic character and whispered legend buried within the pages of the novels.
With Miranda Otto’s exciting return from The Lord of the Rings Original Trilogy, most of the voice cast has been revealed. She will return to the character of Éowyn, who will narrate the movie. Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan, will speak with his distinctive voice thanks to Brian Cox (Succession).
Gaia Wise as Hera, Helm’s daughter, who aids in protecting her people, Luke Pasqualino as Wulf, the brutal leader of the Dunlendings who seeks retribution against Rohan for the death of his father Freca (who will be voiced by Shaun Dooley), and Laurence Ubong Williams as Fréaláf Hildeson, Helm’s nephew and heir to the throne of Rohan, are also joining them.
Plot
The new series will take place in the second age, while the screenplay, which is based on a scenario by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, will be set approximately 250 years before the events of the first movie.
Following the life of the fabled King of Rohan Helm Hammerhand, the film will investigate the as-of-yet-undiscovered tale of Helm’s Deep castle.
After the brutal Dunlending Lord Wulf, sworn to avenge the death of his father, launches a surprise attack, Helm and his people are forced to make a valiant last stand in the fortress of Hornburg (later known as Helm’s Deep).
Unfortunately, it will take time before we see anything from The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim because filming is still going on.
