Over the years, the Independence Day weekend has seen some of the largest box office clashes in the history of Hindi cinema. Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan, and Raksha Bandhan, starring Akshay Kumar, competed at the box office last year. This year, things are poised to take things to a new level. A three-way fight for the Independence Day weekend box office crown is already in the works. While Animal and Gadar 2 have always been scheduled for August 11 release. Akshay Kumar is now prepared to make an appearance with Oh My God 2 on the same day. Scroll down to know The Target Audience For Animal, Gadar 2 & Oh My God 2.
Target Audience For Animal, Gadar 2 & Oh My God 2
Animal
The three films’ box office competition is the talk of the town and somewhat unprecedented in the modern era, but intriguingly, the three pictures may appeal to completely different audiences. Animal, a larger-than-life gangster drama starring Ranbir Kapoor and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, will appeal to young people in major cities as well as the general public in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. The music and graphics from the teaser and trailer should make it the most eagerly awaited movie for young people throughout the entire belt, including the metros and mass circuits.
The excitement among the audience to watch Ranbir Kapoor in a criminal setting is evident from the talks.
Gadar 2
Gadar 2 stars Sunny Deol once again as Tara Singh. Based on the re-release’s box office results, the sequel may be in for a nice box office shock. Gadar’s initial target audience will be families as well as the general public, who have grown up experiencing the thrill of the first film in 2001.
It will also try to attract a younger audience, which was presumably too young in 2001 to experience the dramatic atmosphere of Gadar. Gadar’s appeal would mostly depend on the trailer as well because it has the potential to reach a bigger audience.
Oh my God 2
With the release of the sequel to his acclaimed film Oh My God, Akshay Kumar is back in his preferred Independence Day slot. The first installment had was a surprise hit at the box office. Oh My God 2 is anticipated to take the same route. If the content is favorable, the goal is to attain its peak performance on August 15.
Families from all different backgrounds will be drawn to the social drama. OMG will target a more focused audience base. Namely families, in terms of scope and appeal, as opposed to the other two films. The other films which will aim to generate business through the support of youth/mass and family/mass, respectively.
The audiences for the three movies will overlap as well. It will ultimately come down to whether the trailer hits the proper note and maintains momentum with the music. A three-way fight is never good for the theater business, especially in today’s climate.
Everyone is now watching to see if any of the three films decide to switch to a solo release on August 4 or August 18.
