Ludo Movie Review:
The movie released on 12th November, 2020 and kicks off with a black and white scene. Gradually parallel situations emerge. In the beginning, Sattu Bhaiya kills a building contractor. On the other hand, Akash (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and Ahana (Sanya Malhotra) find themselves in an ugly situation when they realise their sex has gone viral on the internet. With the girl’s wedding set in a few days, the duo tries to reach the bottom of this. A third angle pops up when camera focusses on Bittu (Abhishek Bachchan) who is released from jail after six years. Thereafter, he realises that his wife and daughter have moved on. The story then also introduces Rajkummar Rao who is the ex-lover of Fatima Sana Shaikh.
Keeping with the Ludo metaphor, all characters signify different colours of the game, while Tripathi is the dice.
Abhishek’s red stands for anger and passion, Rajkummar and Fatima’s green signifies survival, Aditya and Sanya’s easy-going romance fits perfectly with the yellow while Rohit and Pearl Maaney’s blue portrays their childlike innocence.
The interesting premise, catchy start and intriguing story sets it apart from the ordinary. The movie also bottles dark comedy and romance. The background score by Pritam advances the story well.
Pankaj Tripathi, as usual, has done an amazing job for the movie, more so because he enjoys playing the badass criminal. Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao and Aditya Roy Kapoor also aced the characters well. The breezy cast is what makes it more fulfilling.
Bollywood Hush would give this movie 3.5 stars out of 5.
