Coronavirus pandemic took a toll at everybody’s life and the brought a silencing halt at the cinemas too. The film production also stopped. The last movie that was released in theatres was Angrezi Medium in March. Over the last few weeks, the restrictions have been uplifted gradually and we are seeing the film industry resurrecting. Now, the film Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari will be the first film to get a theatrical release post the coronavirus induced lockdown. As per reports, the movie will come at the end of a packed holiday season. This phase will witness the release of Laxmii, Ludo and Chhalaang debuting on streaming platforms. The film will be released by Zee Studios on November 15. The movie is a Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s Diwali offering. This movie has been described as a light-hearted, Hrishikesh Mukherjee-style comedy.

With the excitement of the film releasing, the makers and especially the director are keeping fingers crossed. Owing to the pandemic, things seem to be uncertain. The director Abhishek Sharma says, “Mumbai and Punjab are big markets for Hindi movies. We hope ours will be the first film to release.”
Although everyone knows that this is the first film and it may suffer the disadvantages of being the same. However, the director keeps his optimism high. The director also said that the cinemas are strictly following the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
He believes that the first set of audience will see how the environment is completely safe. Abhishek said, “I am sorry to use the word, but those films are dying, it’s death. I wouldn’t take names but there are so many films which are on OTT right now and I can see some coming as well, which are promising, I don’t know why they couldn’t wait.” He also revealed that he is a theatre guy.
Some high-profile films like Dil Bechara, Sadak 2, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Gulabo Sitabo got digitally released due to the pandemic.
