After a three-year successful run, Maddam Sir is about to or has already left the air. As the news was revealed, the fans were pretty stunned. Jay Production, run by Jay Mehta and Kinnari Mehta, produced the show. Looking back, Kinnari discusses the development of the show, what comes next, and other topics. She also says that season two is already being planned. Read on to know more about the Maddam Sir season 2.
The producer says, “My programme is about to end, and we’re all feeling conflicted. We’ll create a second season. We also want to express our gratitude to everyone for their support. During the Covid era, the voyage has been fruitful and lasted three years. There are differences in the types of content that we must, wish to, and produce as a production house. Sometimes we have to create content that appeals to a wider audience, but there are some pieces of content that we really want to create. Maddam Sir is one of those pieces, and we were able to tell it because there were so many other tales with us.”
Maddam Sir season 2:
The question is whether it was necessary to terminate the current season and start thinking about the next one given the amount of praise the comedy was receiving. “I think that if you leave the audiences high, there are always chances to preserve the brand. And today, when you see television series that go from six to seven days, you are just providing material in a very narrow span of time. What I’m saying is subject to creativity, and by the time you’re a year old, you’re usually just repeating your stories.”
She further adds, “A web series is what a programme like Maddam Sir is. It was challenging to uphold the brand’s standards for quality and creativity, and occasional breaks were necessary. Everyone, including the performers and the staff, needs a break, therefore taking a break will allow everyone to come back stronger. That way, our future can be longer. There has already been talking about the upcoming season being planned, so the announcement will be made when the time is right. But right now, I think we could all need a respite. Nothing has been resolved as of yet. We have told the viewers that they won’t be let down and that we will return because the brand has been strong.”
Maddam Sir serial:
Kinnari says that one of her closest concepts is Bindiya Sarkar. She states, “It tells the tale of a regular girl who strives to become the Chief Minister and her challenges. This kind of striker ought to be mentioned, especially when they are intended for viewers in the cow belt. When they see such stories, the women there are inspired, and right now, the show is experiencing a high because Bindiya is dying on the screen. Every time one of our main characters passes away, attention is increased. The viewers should pay attention to what happens to Bindya next and how she returns. When Bindiya enters the house, people will notice her new appearance. We’ll also be doing some new casting since we want to introduce some romantic tension between the hero and the heroine. When it is decided, we will make an announcement, but we are still auditioning.”
Kinnari adds of her and Jay’s working methods, “Jay and I have been really lucky that the way we are, we want to create stuff for India of the future. The latest example of Maddam Sir is nothing less than what we want to represent when we say to the women that India is not just about domestic violence but also about women and men having a voice. There are very few shows that depict women in uniform while also highlighting their vulnerability. Positive thinking and happiness are the foundation of our storytelling, and from a vision standpoint, it captures who Jay and I are as people.”
Serial Update:
Several television programmes are ending their runs at an accelerated rate when you consider how newer content is produced. This shift in dynamics has caused some worry. “The cause of this is that there are now too many options available to them. From your, Instagram feeds to your YouTube viewing. When Zee TV had recently launched and there was just DD at the time, it was simpler for content creators to find audiences. At that time, shows did run for 2000–3000 episodes. The issue for all content producers today, whether they are TV producers, online series creators, or Instagram influencers, is that audiences are drawn to newer content.” The actress says.
She adds, “It’s excellent because it presents a challenge, and we should embrace that and continue. I believe that everyone is getting impatient because the audience is, and as a result, the business world is moving more quickly. The year is 2023, and compared to five years ago, things have changed. Simply said, there are far too many things going on right now. Even the creators and producers, in my opinion, are impatient because they want to play faster and have as many episodes as possible on various platforms.”
Hindi remakes of popular regional TV series are common. And these remakes are also succeeding. “Regional shows are tried and tested when they are adopted. There is already a sampling of emotions, which lowers the risk to both the broadcaster and producer. So why not? Repeating inspiring tales is not harmful.”
Kinnari Mehta Concludes:
She speaks on programmes not being able to last for long. Because the industry has changed and she is a content creator. Kinnari begins by stating that it is heartbreaking for everyone concerned when a show is cancelled. “If a show airs for an average of close to a year from the initial pitch to the day of airing. It will be a significant financial and emotional loss if it is cancelled before that time. We make no attempt to experiment. There are programmes designed specifically for specialised audiences. So, perhaps we ought to aim to appeal to bigger audiences and more diverse emotions. We are drawn to the storytelling style of Rajshri flicks and Yeh Rishta for that matter because of this. Rajan [Shahi] Ji is well familiar with it. The mass connects narrative keeps getting better,” She concludes about Maddam Sir season 2.
