Sara Ali Khan is becoming a household name with her exciting stints. She is also signing films back to back. Now it has been revealed that for Sara Ali a good story is more important than her screen time. She also believes that she is not in the film industry to “compete” with her co-stars. Sara, daughter of stars Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, made her debut with Abhishek Kapoor’s 2018 drama Kedarnath. She went on to do Rohit Shetty’s cop comedy Simmba, co-starring Ranveer Singh. Her last release was Imtiaz Ali’s romance drama Love Aaj Kal. Now the actress is returning to the comedy genre with David Dhawan’s Coolie No 1, opposite Varun Dhawan. However, these days we see less of women driven comedy films. The main chunk of laughter comes from the male actors which is contradictory to the films earlier. Hema Malini in Seeta Aur Geeta in 1972, Sridevi in the 1980s with Mr India and Chaalbaaz, Karisma Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Raveena Tandon in several David Dhawan films across the 1990s ruled the show.
Aapki aukat nahin hoti to make such comparisons: Sara Ali Khan on Less Screen Time in Movies with Varun-Ranveer
Talking about the same, Sara said, “When you’re working with people like Ranveer and Varun, aapki aukat nahin hoti (you are not in a position) to make such comparisons. You’re just thankful that people like Rohit, David sir, Ranveer or Varun are working with you. You just don’t want to compare these things.”
As per the actress, screen time does not matter because these people teach and inspire so much. The actress told PTI in an interview, “You are narrating a good story, entertaining people, so who cracked which joke is a battle I don’t want to get into.”
She said further that she considers Simmba as much her film as it was Ranveer’s, despite the titular role belonging to the Gully Boy star.
