Actor Gulshan Devaiah has always been outspoken about supporting many musicians, and he also does it in real life. Gulshan was unable to accept it when Prasad Bhat, a caricature artist based in Bengaluru, offered to caricature some of his most famous characters as a tribute to him as an actor. Gulshan was moved by the gesture and asked the artist to create the piece for him. From his films Commando 3, Dahaad, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, Ghost Stories, Durangaa, Badhaai Do, Hunterrr, Death in the Gunj, and That Girl in Yellow Boots, the artist chose Gulshan’s likeness.
He confesses, “I’m willing to pay for something if I really like it,” Gulshan claims. In this era of machine learning and artificial intelligence, the least I can do is support artists by offering to pay them their rates. I am really grateful and honoured to receive offers from artists to create something for me for free. I accepted Prasad’s offer to create something for me since I liked his concept and chose to hire him to create an artistic summary of my professional life to date. Each of Prasad’s caricatures brings back beautiful memories for me. And I’m extremely thrilled with them.”
