Ali Fazal, a member of the academy, represented India at the illustrious Oscar luncheon. A record number of Indian movies have been nominated for Oscars this year, including Kartiki Gonsalves’ The Elephant Whisperers, All That Breathes by Shaunak, RRR’s nomination for best original song, and Guneet Monga’s The Elephant Whisperers.
At the time of his election in 2018, Ali Fazal was one of the Academy’s youngest members from India. Hollywood power players, including Tom Cruise, an international superstar, attended the luncheon. Ali, who is in LA on business, joined the brilliant group and added his support for the Indian films representing the nation this year. Being a representative of Indian cinema, Ali said, “It was amazing to be there with Shaunak and Guneet. One of the most famous movies I’ve recently watched is All That Breathes, so being present when it was honoured along with our theatre was a real source of pride.”

Shaunak Sen, a filmmaker, is currently ecstatic with his career. His most recent film, All That Breathes, has achieved worldwide success. The Sundance and Cannes award-winning movie is about to get a third accolade. The biggest environmental festival will shortly screen All That Breathes. Yep, you did read that correctly. All That Breathes has been added to the roster for 2022 All Living Things Environmental Film Festival.
Delhi serves as the setting for All That Breathes for those who are unfamiliar. Its premise centres on the post-apocalyptic atmosphere and the increasing violence taking place in the big city. Nadeem and Saud, two brothers, appear in it. The movie has received numerous awards at events and film festivals. It most recently took home the Grand Jury Award in the Sundance 2022 Global Cinema Documentary Competition. It additionally took home the Golden Eye prize for outstanding documentary at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022.
Speaking about his movie “It’s a privilege to have my movie playing at a major film festival like All Living Things Environmental Film Festival. I’ve tracked their progress, and each year they’ve provided a fantastic collection of films for viewing. The notion of using cinema, a powerful medium, to raise awareness of the environmental problem is amazing. I’m eager for Indians to witness the ecological shift that is the subject of my film.”
