Due to his charitable work, actor Jackie Shroff has been winning hearts in real life. Jackie has been devoted to working in the medical field as a humanitarian. He has now undertaken another effort in which he is teaching individuals first aid skills.
The JK Foundation’s project, with assistance from the hospital run by Dr Deenanath Mangeshkar in Pune, trained members from 45 to 50 families in Chandanwadi, both young and old. They received instruction on how to recognise the signs of thalassemia, blood pressure and sugar variations, electric shock, choking, and other medical emergencies and how to administer first aid. The purpose of this programme is to provide at least one family member with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide emergency care until a patient is transported to the hospital.
Jackie Shroff:
Jackie says of this effort, “I have witnessed so many lives being lost because a straightforward first aid method wasn’t applied at the appropriate moment. Therefore, we made the decision to teach these fundamental procedures to at least one person from each home so they can save a life while awaiting additional medical attention. I appreciate the doctors at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital taking the effort to develop this and using it to instruct people. Pune is where we started, but we have big plans for this effort.”
Simple exercises that could immediately contribute to lifesaving were taught to these participants. It is a lovely initiative that will undoubtedly be useful in the future.
