Monika Bhadoriya discusses her suicidal feelings following the deaths of her mother and grandmother as well as the torture she endured on the TMKOC sets and how male-chauvinist the set of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is.
Former actresses from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, including Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, Priya Ahuja, and Monika Bhadoriya, have bravely come forward and are routinely revealing shocking details about various facets of the programme. The show has been in the news for a while for a number of contentious reasons, from the producer Asit Modi being accused of sexual assault to the male-chauvinist atmosphere on the set. Recently, Monika Bhadoriya, the former actor from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, and Pinkvilla had an intimate talk.
The actress who played Bawri in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Monika Bhadoriya, has leveled accusations against the show’s producers for failing to pay the performers after they left the programme. Monika Bhadoriya revealed in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla the negativity on the TMKOC sets, the need to gather evidence against the creator, and the male-chauvinist atmosphere she encountered there.
Monika acknowledged the male-chauvinistic atmosphere on the set of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah when asked about it, adding, “Yes, the environment on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah sets has been male-chauvinistic.” During her time working for the show, Monika shared her own experience, saying, “If I talk about it, a lot of people from Taarak Mehta will call me and tell me why did I talk about it.”
But sure, it’s there, they foster a male-chauvinistic climate, she added. I have observed it in other locations, and it occurs in the industry that female artists are paid less than their male co-stars. This phenomenon is not exclusive to the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah set. Male artists are occasionally called right on cue whereas female artists are occasionally called earlier. So, it occurs frequently.
The actress from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah continued, “There are various factors on the Taarak Mehta sets that one cannot compromise on. Even while there are some things that one can compromise, the male chauvinistic environment on the sets is too strong for anyone to do so.
Monika Bhadoriya left Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah at the halfway point. After she left, Navina Wadekar took over to play the part of Bawri.
Monika Bhadoriya admitted, “I experienced numerous family catastrophes. In a relatively short amount of time, I lost both my mother and grandmother. They both played major roles in my life because of how effectively they raised me. I felt like my life was ended since I was unable to cope with their loss. I was also working for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah at this time, which was incredibly torturous. So I felt like I should kill myself after all this anguish and ideas. Her father passed away, thus we gave the money, they (the TMKOC creators) claimed. We offered her mother’s illness treatment funding. I was extremely hurt by these words.
She also discusses how everyone’s actions and remarks on the TMKOC sets made her feel so depressed that she lost the motivation to work on the programme and wanted to quit. “I had a dream to bring my parents on the sets of my show,” Monika continues, “but after seeing the atmosphere on the sets, I decided that I would never ask my parents to come on the sets.”
The Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress went on to say, “But when my mother was ill and in her last days, I thought I should bring her to the sets and show her where I work, but that remained impossible.” The actor claims that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s atmosphere led to her leaving the programme. There are many people who labor for pay, she continues. Money is significant, but not more so than respect for oneself.
