She passed away at a hospital in Dadar, Mumbai, when she was 94 years old. She passed away following a protracted illness that was age-related, according to a statement issued by her family.
The seasoned actress’ daughter Kanchan Ghanekar already announced her tragic passing. Her daughter revealed to Indian Express that she had trouble breathing. She claimed, “She had age-related medical problems and breathing problems. She passed away at 6 this evening. We are profoundly grieved to tell you of the demise of our cherished grandmother, Smt. Sulochana Didi Noted Film Actress, following a protracted, age-related illness, the family said in their statement.
They also discussed the particulars of her funeral rites. On Monday, her antim darshan will take place at her Dadar home, and at 5:30 pm, she will be cremated at the Shivaji Park crematorium.
Career Life:
In 1946, Sulochana Latkar made her screen debut. Marathi films such as Sasurvas (1946), Vahinichya Bangdya (1953), Meeth Bhakar, Sangtye Aika (1959), Laxmi Ali Ghara, and Mothi Manse, she played the lead role.
Throughout her career in Hindi cinema, she frequently starred opposite Nazir Hussain, Trilok Kapoor, and Ashok Kumar. She stated in an interview that she cherished her roles as a mother to Sunil Dutt, Rajesh Khanna, and Dev Anand. She frequently portrayed a mother or other close relative in Hindi films starring Sunil Dutt, including Heera, Jhoola, Ek Phool Char Kante, Sujatha, and Mehrbaan.
She frequently played the lead in films with Dev Anand, who was either her son or a relative. Some of their collaborations include Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai, Pyar Mohabbat, and Duniya.
She received the Chitrabhushan Award, established by the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, in 2003 on the occasion of Baburao Painter’s birth anniversary, one of the pioneers of contemporary Marathi film.
Latkar received the civilian Padma Shri award in 1999. The Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award was given to her in 2004. The Maharashtra government presented her with the Maharashtra Bhushan Award in 2009.
