Robbie Coltrane, an actor best remembered for playing Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies, has died. At the age of 72, he departed for his heavenly home. The actor, who was Scottish-born and appeared in the James Bond movies Goldeneye and The World Is Not, passed away in a hospital close to Falkirk, Scotland. His agent, Belinda Wright, announced the incredibly sad news on Friday (October 14). His death’s cause is still unknown.

Robbie was honored in a tweet that was posted by the Harry Potter movies’ official account. “We are deeply saddened to learn of the departure of the brilliant Robbie, who portrayed Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies with such warmth, compassion, and humor. He was a great performer and everyone’s a buddy; he will be sorely missed, it said.
Many co-stars, actors, and famous people expressed their condolences. James Phelps, an actor who co-starred with Robbie in the Harry Potter films, wrote on Twitter, “I will miss the odd discussions about anything under the sun. And I won’t forget On my first day on a set as a 14-year-old in September 2000, Robbie approached me and told me, “Enjoy it, you’ll be amazing.”

In a letter, actor Robert Lindsay expressed his shock at Robbie Coltrane’s passing. “We went on a Hollywood adventure together, and I will never forget it. Another powerful star will shine in the heavens.”
