After Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, nepotism debate has been reignited. It feels that the blames and arguments on the insider outsider debate are not gonna rest anytime soon. Many Bollywood celebs are sharing their thoughts on the same. Some believes nepotism exists while some don’t. Now, famous screenwriter Javed Akhtar has come forth to share his thoughts on the same. He believes that people are confusing inheritance with nepotism. In an interview with a news portal, he also shared his views on the drug abuse in B-Town. He said that drugs are prevalent not only in Bollywood but everywhere else as well.
Javed Akhtar opines on Nepotism:
The recipient of five national awards was quoted as, “Inheritance cannot be called nepotism. I think people are confusing inheritance with nepotism. In film industry, nepotism is not possible because ultimately, the person who is buying the ticket at the box office is the voter and that cannot be rigged. May be somebody born in a film family has a foot in the door, but that’s about all.”
For the drug scenario, Javed Akhtar said that he has only heard about them and have never seen them. He calls drug ‘the malice of the society’. He added, “But I have heard the young people tend to use drugs, but that is not just in film industry, it is the current malice of the society. That should be looked into. And I don’t know what is illegal and what is legal.”
The Sahitya Akademi Awardee is cuurently in his house at Khandala and is totally in love with the picturesque location. He said, “Within 1 hour 30 minutes from my house here [in Mumbai] you are on a hill station with clouds coming into your room and you have complete calm and no sound.”
