Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for Thalaivi’s release. In the movie, Ranaut essays the role of late political leader Jayalalitha. It will be a bilingual film in Hindi and Tamil. The film will be about the transition of the late leader from silver screen to politics. It is directed by AL Vijay and also stars Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Madhoo and Bhagyashree in pivotal roles. Now, as per the latest revelations from the actress herself, she will be playing the role of India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in a period film. The film is yet to be titled and will also star many prominent actors.
Kangana Ranaut to Play Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in This Upcoming Grand Period Film
An entertainment portal quoted Ranaut, “Yes, we are working on the project and the script is in the final stages. It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi, it is a grand period film, to be precise a political drama that will help my generation to understand (the) socio-political landscape of current India.” Kangana further added, “Many prominent actors will be part of this film and of course I am looking forward to playing the most iconic leader that we have had in the history of Indian politics.”
Kangana also said that the movie is based on a book. Director Sai Kabir, who collaborated with Kangana for Revolver Rani, will write the story and also direct the project. She will herself produce the film that will feature Emergency and Operation Blue Star. It is expected that the period film will be based on a big scale. The movie will have characters of Sanjay Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, Morarji Desai, and Lal Bahadur Shashtri among other prominent figures.
