Murder mysteries, by their very nature, can draw in viewers. Swara Bhasker’s next film, Mimamsa, is scheduled to take a crack at the genre, focusing on a case of serial killings. Bhasker, who previously portrayed a tough-as-nails cop in Eros Now’s Flesh, reprises her role. She plays an investigative officer Adhira Dixit, who is charged with the case.
Director Gagan Puri and his staff rolled up their sleeves. They started to work as soon as the lockdown limitations were released last year. “Shooting for the film was a once-in-a-lifetime event that kept me emotionally involved throughout the duration. This was the first film I filmed following the lockdown last year. It adds to the uniqueness of the production. It helped me feel a sense of gratitude for the work I do,” adds Swara Bhasker, who shot the film in Bhopal from beginning to end. While she promises the usual startling turns, the performer feels the material is also thought-provoking.
Puri is presently buried in work, supervising the film’s post-production, which also stars Brijendra Kala. The filmmaker feels fortunate to have received a thumbs up from the talented actors. “We wanted to make the film mysterious, and having brilliant actors like Swara and Brijendra on board just adds to the excitement,” he says.
Swara Bhasker reacted to a meme that compared her and Taapsee Pannu to table tennis player Manika Batra. Manika was dubbed “more gorgeous” and “more talented” than Swara and Taapsee by the meme. Swara responded by posting emojis of grins and geek faces on Twitter writing, “Many congratulations to #ManikaBatra and every other female achiever in any field!!!”
