Mother’s Day 2023: Geeta Kapur Opens Up on Being Called Maa
Everyone affectionately refers to Geeta Kapur, the judge for India’s Best Dancer 3, as Geeta Maa. Everyone in the entertainment industry refers to her as “Geeta Maa.” The choreographer said that she feels a sense of obligation to those who refer to her as “Geeta Maa” because of the love she receives and the honor of being called “Maa.” She exclaimed, “It’s great. I’m not sure what I did to earn it, but whenever someone refers to me as “Geeta Maa,” I feel accountable and modest. I consider it an honor when individuals say I have imparted knowledge to them, but I have never referred to anyone as my “sishya” or “guru.”
“So in many respects, I consider myself fortunate and modest. I’m appreciative of the affection and “Maa” that have been added to my name. Even though I haven’t done much. It’s that one emotion that’s challenging to put into words,” she continued.
To continue the customary “Guru-Sisya” practice, Geeta Kapur will present all choreographers and participants with an idol of “Natraj” this weekend.
