Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has ignited discussions on Nepotism in Bollywood industry. Many people alleged that Sushant died because of favouritism and nepotism in the B-Town industry. In addition, many actors, producers and directors were blamed for the same. Also, quite a few actors opened up about how they faced struggles in the film industry due to star-kids. Sameera Reddy talks about facing Nepotism and Favouritism:
The actress said, “I was replaced in three films and wasn’t given a proper reason. Once, they replaced me with a star kid and the other time, I got replaced because the actor was friendly with someone else.”
She also shared the downfall of confidence in her when she was told, ‘You don’t have it in you’. She said she had already signed the film and later the producer called her to his office to share the heartbreaking news of rejection. However, later she was informed by a well-wisher that the film is given to a star-kid and the producer did not have the guts to tell the truth. While she shared such incidents with the news portal, she kept all the names hidden, be it the film’s title or the producer and star-kid.
Sameera was also asked if this made her bitter towards the industry. She said, “This industry has given me a lot and I have nothing against it. In fact I always say that I won’t ever talk bad about the business because it has been kind to me. I respect films and I can’t go against it. If I had the guts to go there and adhere to everything they wanted me to do, then I also have to be ready for these tamachas because it is a very competitive space.”
