One of the biggest names in the Telugu film industry is no more. The South film industry has endured a big loss in the form of the late veteran actor Krishna’s death. The whole nation is currently mourning the death of Superstar Krishna. He made his presence felt with his stellar personality, talent, and skills. Originally, his name is Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna. However, the audience referred to him as the ‘superstar’ with love and respect. Krishna took his last breath on 15th November 2022. He died on Tuesday morning at 4 am. He suffered from a cardiac ailment and was quickly admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad.
South Superstar Krishna:
The last rites of the actor are currently happening. On Wednesday, loved ones of the actor and celebs from the Telugu industry will come forward to attend his funeral. The whole industry is currently left mourning this grave news. The superstar lived a legendary life. Born on 31st May 1940, he died at the age of 79 after living a full and content life. Krishna was a flamboyant superstar who left back a treasure full of memories and movies. The actor has given the film industry a whole lot of blockbusters and valuable content. The viewers were never tired of his performances and always desired more and more of him. He has given some of the evergreen characters including Alluri Seetharama Raju.
During his last breath, he was at the Continental Hospital in Hyderabad. However, he got into cardiac arrest and died. His son who is also a mega star in the entertainment industry Mahesh Babu along with his sisters Padmavati, Manjula, and Priyadarshini are performing the last rites for their late father. Krishna died after few weeks after the death of his first wife Indira Devi on September 28, 2022. Vijaya Nirmala, his second wife had already passed away in 2019. Moreover, his eldest son Ramesh Babu is also no more. The family of superstar Krishna have been receiving condolences from around the industry and the entire nation. Even the Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao & the TPCC president, A. Revanth Reddy offered their condolences.
Career Graph of over five decades:
Krishna’s career spanned over five decades. He has given his whole life to films and cinema. Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy was born in Burripalem in the Guntur district in the erstwhile Madras Presidency. The actor has given more than 350 films spanning various genres. He was also the holder of the nickname ‘Daring and Dashing Hero’. Moreover, the actor set a trend by pioneering and exploring new technologies in his films. Creating history, he was the one to produce and direct the first 70mm film in Telugu. Not only this, but the actor also introduced the Cowboy style in the South film industry through Mosagallaku Mosagadu. Later on, he introduced spy thrillers or Bond-like movies including Gudachari 116, Agent Gopi and James Bond 777. Fans of the actor had tagged him as the James Bond of Telugu cinema.
In 1965, the actor began his innings as a leading man in the film Thene Manasulu. Superstar Krishna was known for his stylish and dashing avatars in films. Regardless, he showed versatility by giving blockbuster family dramas like Pandanti Kapuram and Meena. The actor also didn’t shy away from starring in multi-starrer movies during the era of Akkineni Nageswara Rao and N T Rama Rao. Films like Akka Chellalu and Devudu Chesina Manushulu are an example of him shining in a multi-starrer film. Moreover, he has also worked with top leading women in the South film industry including Vijaya Nirmala and Jayaprada. Krishna has done over forty films with each of them.
Becoming a brand:
Taking his career a notch higher in 1971, he established his own production house called Padmalaya Studios. Through this, he produced and distributed not only Telugu but even Hindi films. The superstar was acknowledged for his efforts and received Padma Bhushan in the year 2009. Bollywood superstar Jitendra did most of his films Hindi remakes including the blockbuster Himmatwala. Sridevi was introduced into the Hindi cinemas with this movie. He then later went on to try out his luck in politics. In 1989, superstar Krishna was elected as a member of Parliament with a Congress ticket from the Eluru constituency. He was influenced by the late ace politician Rajiv Gandhi and joined the party at his invitation. However, he withdrew himself from politics and was fully devoted to the cinema. Krishna also confessed that he only admired politician Rajiv Gandhi and felt he was not cut for it.
The actor was also known as the producers’ hero because he used to work for free for the producers who went through losses. He was the man with no enemies in a highly competitive industry. For over fifty years the actor was loved by everyone including the producers, directors, co-stars and crew. Krishna has millions of followers spread across the country. Let us tell you, he was the last of the five legendary actors who once ruled the Tollywood industry. In the 1960s and 1980s only Krishna, N.T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Shobhan Babu and Krishnam Raju were the ones who were known as the superstars of the industry. This means with the death of the superstar Krishna an era ends.
