Bhuj: The Pride of India
Abhishek Dudhaiya’s film Bhuj: The Pride of India is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan War. The film, which stars Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, and Sharad Kelkar, is based on the story of Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who rebuilt a whole IAF airbase with the help of 300 women from a nearby hamlet.
An airstrike on the Bhuj airport kicks off the trailer. We get glimpses of how the characters of Ajay, Sanjay, Sonakshi, Nora, and Sharad are infused with the fire of patriotism as India works out how to halt the Pakistan army. There are also several action scenarios, ranging from missile launches to battleship strikes.
Ajay emerges from the ruins, in the end, proclaiming, “Mere marne ka maatam mat karna, maine khud yeh shahdat chuni hai. Main jeeta hoon marne ke liye, mera naam hai sipahi (Don’t be sad about my death; I chose martyrdom for myself.) I’m a soldier, thus I live to die).”
On August 13, only two days before Independence Day, Bhuj: The Pride of India will be released on Disney+ Hotstar as a direct-to-digital release.
Due to stunt coordinator Peter Hein’s unavailability in March, Ajay supervised an action sequence in Bhuj: The Pride of India. “It’s true that Ajay created the movie’s action sequence. The sequences occur at a pivotal point in the story. As he confronts the spies sent by the Pakistani army in the first set-piece, Ajay is shown trying hand-to-hand fighting. Sanjay Dutt and Sharad Kelkar take on the baddies in the other part, an outside shoot,” a representative for the film told Mid-Day.
