The trend of shooting films abroad is in the limbo, as the aftereffect of the Covid-19 pandemic. Not only due to logistical reasons but also because India gets ‘vocal for local.’ An adios to foreign location shoots is in the future of the Bollywood.
Adios to foreign location shoots:
The uneven desert terrain of Abu Dhabi, the romanticism of Switzerland, the extrinsic vicinities of France, and striking islands across the world is a far fetch thought for the entertainment industries of India presently. Almost since the emerge of the Bollywood industry, Bollywood has captured the beauty of these locations and more in its films. However, this all could temporarily change in the outcome of the Covid-19 pandemic. The reason would also include India’s initiative to go ‘vocal for local.’
The ambitious project Takht, of Karan Johar, is also in jeopardy. As the team of YRF had done an extensive recce to secure locations across Italy and Spain. Karan Johar had even said, “We had a palace in Florence that we were shooting in, and then we were shooting in Italy at Bari. Moreover, at Seville too.” Have a look at the magnificent teaser of the film shared by the filmmaker himself.
If we go even deeper into the investigation, he is not the only one out of locations. According to trade sources, several movies, some yet to be announced. From the Yash Raj Films (YRF) banner, directorial projects by Aditya Chopra, Maneesh Sharma, and Sidharth Anand. Were also canceled to be shot across various locations overseas. An OTT show was scheduled to be shot in Bangkok, Salman Khan’s Radhe had a plan in Dubai, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had a scene or two to be shot overseas, and Tiger 3 was also fixed to have a foreign schedule.
Many filmmakers along with the above are reassessing plans on shooting abroad. It is an adios to foreign locations shoots from Bollywood for now. Share your thoughts through the comment section below on this story. Stay connected to BollywoodHush for the timely updates of the Bollywood world.
