One of the most awaited movies starring the popular Bollywood couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are having trouble releasing. We all know that the lockdown has impacted Bollywood movies and the industry altogether. Many filmmakers have decided to opt for OTT to release their movies to the audience. However, it seems Karan Johar refuses to release Brahmastra Directly On OTT.
Bollywood couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt will be coming together for the first time together on screen. Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra will also feature the Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan along with the famous duo. Along with them, Nagarjuna, Dimple Kapadia, and Mouni Roy will also be seen in pivotal roles. Bharmastra was previously called Dragon. Moreover, it was supposed to be released on Christmas 2016. But, due to the massively mounted shell, the makers needed more time to design and improve it.
Afterward, the movie was scheduled to release on Independence Day 2019 and then December 4, 2020. Films like Sadak 2, Laxmii, and Coolie No. 1 found their way to the OTT platform. Will Brahmastra be next? It seems Johar is not ready for the same.
Karan Johar refuses to release Brahmastra Directly On OTT:
According to a source, “Disney+ Hotstar has now asked Fox Star Studios if they can hand over Brahmastra for their streaming platform. What it means is, Disney+ Hotstar wants Brahmastra to bypass theatrical release and arrive on its platform directly. They feel Brahmastra is a keenly awaited biggie, and if it gets premiered on their platform, it’ll fetch them record streams.”
He adds, “Producer Karan Johar, however, has not shown interest. He believes that the VFX heavy, the grand film would be best enjoyed in cinemas.” For the uninitiated, this film is a trilogy, but no update has been given on its continuing parts. The source also said, “As of now, there are no talks on the Brahmastra sequels. All the efforts of Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios are on completing the first part. The shoot of the film is to get over this month after which the team will fully concentrate on the post-production.”
