Shazam 2 movie review:
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is far less intense and serious and far more endearing and cheeky. Zachary Levi and Asher Angel alternated as Shazam, who continued to portray the role of a young child in a superhero suit who is given far more power than he can handle. The visual effects, in addition to the outstanding acting by every member of the Shazam family, particularly Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, and Ian Chen, caught my attention. It’s incredible how many people were involved in producing these fanciful components while keeping the focus of the film on navigating having a chosen family and accepting that change is inevitable.
The climactic third-act combat can be amusing at times, but at one point it seems to go around in circles. The conclusion that can be drawn from Fury of the Gods’ ending is that it is fully conscious of the reason that you loved the first movie so much – that DNA still exists in small amounts. Its issue is that it has so many components that require attention that some of its textbook essences are lost. One notable case is a character telling the family members about their sexual orientation.
Conclusion:
On the one hand, it’s a success that they accepted it so readily. On the other hand, the moment is over so quickly that it doesn’t seem that significant. The “Philly Fiascos” offers lots of characters to root for, but only if we spent more time getting to know them. Regardless of what other reviewers may say, the movie is definitely worth seeing. Even though it didn’t perform as well as the first one, I strongly suggest viewing the film. You don’t have to be a die-hard DC fan to see this one, although it’s good if you’ve seen the first one. If you’re looking for a family-friendly movie to see in a theatre with others this weekend, don’t let that deter you.
