Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari Movie Review:
The movie Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari got a theatrical release even after the on-going pandemic. It released on 13th November, 2020. Although it was risky step to release it theatrically, it is still safe to say that movie received more success in some areas than others. The movie stars Diljit Dosanjh as Suraj who is in search of a bride. This young Sikh man is from ‘Bombay’ of 1995. When the movie first introduces this man, he is making introduction videos for potential brides of him. In the video he showcases ‘the good guy personality’ from his point of view. He uses the classic ‘because I have a sister of my own’ as the foundation proof.
Later, comes Madhu Mangal Rane (Manoj Bajpayee) to cast a shadow on Suraj’s life. The former is a wedding detective and he expels Suraj as a boozing, eveteasing, publically-urinating no-good ‘bad boy’ to a prospect bride’s family. Enraged by this, Suraj wants to take revenge and he eyes Mangal’s sister Tulsi (Fatima Sana Shaikh).
The film clearly gives out comical essence and never once does it seem confused. Abhishek Sharma has put in appropriate hardwork to make it look out as 1995. The writers Shokhi Banerjee, Rohan Shankar and Rohan Shankar have heavily invested to bring out nitty-gritties in every act and character of the movie. The first half of the movie focusses on the lives of Dhillons and Rane, the second half smashes into a predictable and abrupt climax. A hint of polishing here would have satisfied the critics. This witty satirical movie details facts about the society and its views on good or bad behaviour for marriage.
Casts’ Work:
Diljit’s excellent dialogue delivery wins hearts. In addition, Manoj Bajpayee has done a commendable job in the movie and it is sad that he has rarely featured in comedy films.
Bollywood Hush would give this movie 3 stars out of 5.
