Thank God Box Office Collection: Diwali saw the theatrical debut of the Indra Kumar-helmed film Thank God, which stars Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh. After Runway 34, Thank God was Ajay Devgn’s second main role and fourth theatrical release. On Govardhan Pooja Day, traditionally regarded as the busiest ticketing day of the year, the movie clashed with Ram Setu. Thank God was the audience’s second choice for Diwali, while Ram Setu continued to be the top choice. Throughout the day, spot booking for both movies ranged from moderate to robust despite the films’ meager advances.
The box office performance of Thank God, which debuted to lukewarm day-one numbers of Rs 8 crores, was dismal given that the film was released the day after Diwali. It didn’t make the top 5 Hindi openers of 2022 despite facing very little opposition in terms of big openers. Daily revenue for the movie dropped as it brought in a pitifully meager Rs. 26.70 cr net during a lengthy 6-day weekend.
On Monday, when it made its debut, the film brought in between Rs. 1.6 and 2.1 crores net, giving it a first-week total of about Rs. 28.5 crores net. With such poor sales, the movie won’t succeed, and its lifetime earnings may only total approximately Rs. 35 crore, which is abysmally low for both a Diwali release and all other releases combined. The movie needed to gross at least Rs. 50 crore in its opening week, even in the worst-case scenario, but it didn’t. The Hindi-dubbed film Kantara started to outperform Thank God every day during the weekend, and it currently has a 50% lead.
