Who doesn’t adore Manmohan Tiwari, better known by his stage name Tiwari Ji, from the hit sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai (BJGPH)? The character now has life and is well-known thanks to actor Rohitashv Gour portrayal. The actor says he has learned a lot over the years and has been involved with the programme since its start. Sanjay and Binaiferr Kohli are the creators of BJGPH.
The actor says, “As an actor, I learnt how to execute the dialogue and punchlines with the proper timing for the audience, ensuring that they laugh at every line and don’t miss out on the pleasure. Even if it occasionally veers off-beat, people still laugh. Another thing I’ve discovered is that it takes skill to make people laugh when speaking slowly in comedy. Everyone was performing comedy at a quick clip before I broke the mould in Bhabiji, and even the director and writer agreed that everyone should perform comedy at a slower clip.”
When Rohitashv was filming the show, he once had a personal issue to deal with, but he nevertheless completed his job obligations. He adds, “Problems are a universal experience. I was shooting here when my father passed away, and I was thinking about him in the background, but I was also concentrating on my comic timing because I had to deliver my dialogue with a lot of devotion.”
Actor Rohitashv Gour:
It’s uncommon to see a comedy like this that makes viewers laugh without using jokes with double meanings. He says, “The moment now is very different. We shouldn’t spend too much time preaching in our comedic discussions of the present. People won’t pay attention to you if we don’t live up to expectations because there is other stuff available.”
He further adds, “For a TV actor, going to the set is a daily occurrence. The actor says that taking pauses periodically is a good way to break up the monotony. When there are pauses in our filming schedules, we like travelling and spending time with our family. Along with that, we should watch quality OTT material to learn new skills and advance as actors.”
The actor continues, “They are great and do not meddle in the actors’ lives. They are the production team of Biniferr and Sanjay Kohli. They merely desire a smooth and enjoyable photo shoot. Sanjay Kohli and Binaiferr are incredibly enlightened and forward-thinking individuals. The entire team is outstanding.”
Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!:
Rohitashv has learned a lot from television. He confesses, “TV provided me with a lot of name recognition, celebrity, employment, and respect. The only media available to us at the time was television and films, and television gave us the chance to play really great roles, and we relished doing so. La Pata Ganj lasted for 5–6 years, and Bhabiji has already served for 8 years. Prior to then, there were one to two years of Mohalla Mohabbat Wala. I discovered that people recognise me from my persona on TV, including Tiwari Ji and Mukundilal Gupta.”
The actor says, “I watch some good English films and web series,” when asked how he spends his leisure time. He confesses, “I have largely watched online series, and even in India, we are producing a tonne of high-quality OTT stuff. As an actor, I make an effort to stay current and adapt.”
