Baisakhi celebrates life, the beginning of a new harvest, and Guru Gobind Singh’s founding of the Khalsa Panth, in contrast to most Sikh festivals, which honour the guru’s birthdays or martyrdom. As a result, they are all very excited as they celebrate the occasion. Actress Jasmin Bhasin reveals her plans for the occasion and how she will mark it differently from other people.
Jasmin Bhasin says, ” The Sikh New Year is celebrated on Baisakhi, which, according to the calendar, falls on April 13. It’s a cheery, sunny day. In addition, it is the spring harvest festival, when Sikhs rejoice in new harvests and pray for everlasting happiness. The largest celebrations, which include feasts, parades, prayers, and a lot of partying, take place in Punjab, India. Additionally, I have seen a variety of Sikh organisations worldwide host Baisakhi events.”
Actress Jasmin Bhasin:
Everybody has a different approach to communicating with the higher power. She continues, “Everyone has new clothes on today because it is a new day. During the festival, we’re sharing stories and create new memories. Baisakhi is celebrated with vibrant hues; traditionally, red, yellow, and orange are used. The top three are listed here. For instance, you may hang some yellow drapes, place some orange rugs in the hallway, or add some bright red cushions on the couch. We all go to the Gurdwara, which means “gateway to the guru” in Sikh and is a place of worship where the Sikh holy book is stored.”
Sikhs frequently pray for success and prosperity in the future year on Baisakhi, according to Jasmin. She concludes, “I get a lot of peace and quiet when I visit the gurdwara. There, anyone may practise meditation. I adore serving in Gurudwaras and taking advantage of the langar. We’ll be cooking special meals today at my house to celebrate the event. Along with rice, we’ll prepare traditional Punjabi dishes like chhole bhature, makki ki roti, sarson ka saag, peele chawal, sweet lassi, jaggery halwa, and kadhi pakora.”
