After a protracted break, Jyoti Mukerji returned in 2021 with Tera Mera Saath Rahe. The audience enjoyed the show and welcomed her return. The actor will now appear in the upcoming Disney+Hotstar web series Dear Ishq created by Yash Patnaik and Mamta Patnaik. Jyoti discusses the project, her career, and many other topics.
“I resumed my career with Star Bharat’s Tera Mera Saath Rahe, and right now I am Durga Aur Charu. I wanted to try something new, and Dear Ishq gave me the chance to do so. It was a fantastic arrangement, which inspired me to test a new platform,” she claims.
“When Asmita talks to Shailaja’s mother about her work concerns, other problems are also there. Asmita is forced to make decisions because of these other challenges. It’s a sweet mother-only role,” she adds.
Jyoti Mukerji:
She continues by praising Yash and Mamta, “I’m working with a new production house, and when I first met them, they welcomed me with open arms. I’m looking forward to creating a highly productive working environment with them.” For those who don’t know, Jyoti is the spouse of Rani Mukerji’s brother, Raja Ram Mukerji. “Since I have been a member of the family for 25 years, I can honestly say that I am very proud of my sister-in-accomplishments, the law’s who she is as a person, and the life that she has built for herself. She is more like a sister to me. My family is my support system in every manner, and they are fully supportive of all of my endeavours.” Jyoti places a high value on striking a balance between her professional and personal lives. She took a vacation from acting in between for one of the reasons.
“My time with my family was, is, and always will be incredibly essential, so I took a 16-year vacation from working. I stopped working in 2006 when my daughter Myiesha was born, and my son Viaan was born in 2009. Moreover, I didn’t get back to work until 2021. I took this hiatus because I wanted to spend time with my kids and watch them develop. But now that my children are teenagers, I can give myself that time and space. My mother-in-law is very understanding, loving, and caring, and we are a blended family. She takes over while I’m gone and is more eager for me to return to work. She never wished for me to stop working, but it was entirely up to me. By God’s grace. My work and family are all balanced because she takes care of everything while I go shooting,” the actress states.
“I started with Anurag Basu’s Manzilein Apani Apani and then I did Mulk and Kittie Party for Zee and Aandhi as well,” The actor continues on her experience so far.“I performed Santaan and Prratima after performing Asha Ki Kiran with Manjul Sinha. The journey has been wonderful. In 2021, I started working again. I had a wonderful six years working, followed by a wonderful sixteen years growing up with my kids. I have loved every second I spent with them. There have been many changes since I returned to work. The economy has expanded, and there are numerous creative and channel contributions. It has grown into a sizable industry. I wanted to resume my life with TV after leaving the industry when I was doing TV, so I did. I’m honoured to work in this field,” she declares.
Jyoti on OTT:
The popularity of OTT programmes is skyrocketing, and audience preferences have significantly changed. Jyoti concurs and says, “The content that is currently accessible is incredible. There are so many diverse topics that will be discussed. OTT has opened doors and encouraged creativity. I’m also quite enthused about it. Not only has there been an abundance of job openings for performers, but also for technicians and other tradespeople. Writers who had excellent scripts but no one to pay them can now share their narrative and their ideas with the public. Going with the flow and doing more work is both something I am looking forward to.”
Jyoti believes that as a performer, she can learn from both her seniors and her juniors. There are several individuals who have inspired her and continue to do so. You can get something from every single individual you meet. Just keep your mind free to receive new information. “Anurag Basu, who got me into the business and taught me the intricacies of performing, told me something extremely important back in the day, and it has been with me ever since. He instructed me to pay attention to everyone I came across because each individual has a distinct personality, including differences in tone, body language, walking, sitting, and eating habits. You never know which role you’ll have to portray at a moment’s notice, so pay attention to them, take notes, and observe.”
“Everyone I encounter and engage with in my life teaches me something new, so it’s not just one person. I’m here to grow and learn,” she concludes.
