According to actress Mitaali Nag, there are many stars in OTT who are engaged in really meaningful jobs even though they may not be the six-pack or size-zero versions of the hero or heroine. According to Mitaali, who co-starred in the short film Scarlet MX Player with actor Rushad Rana and made her television debut as Tejaswini in Aashiqana 2 on Disney+Hotstar, the digital explosion has provided many talented actors with a lot of exposure and work.
“It really depends on what a person considers to be a “Star. A celebrity, in my opinion, is someone who is well-known for more than just charm or good looks, such as talent or acting abilities. Therefore, when it comes to OTT, all of the performers are good actors, regardless of their appearance, age, etc. Although the cast and crew undoubtedly view them as stars, the audience may not. As a result, they continue to perform increasingly significant tasks. I believe that OTT popularity is distinct from TV stardom.” The actor claims.
Mitaali Nag:
Regarding the crass and harsh nature of OTT content, Mitaali responds, “Yes, I have noticed this trend of incorporating bold bits even if it is not required on the OTT platform. I have no opinion as a viewer if a bold scene is legitimately included in the programme. I want to work on acting roles where my family can watch with me. The elderly and the young are included in this.”
The entertainment sector has also been exposed to a lot of deplorable abuse, including that drugs, depression, and insults. Mitaali comments on the same topic by saying, “In a manner, the entertainment business has exposed everyone to the harsh facts of life. Depending on the person. I think it’s beneficial to discuss these issues and be conscious of right and wrong. However, impressionable young individuals could be swayed. And end up becoming addicted to some not-so-desirable behaviours like smoking, drinking, using drugs, etc.”
Despite the influx of many younger actors, Mitaali claims that she has never noticed a clear generation gap. “Whether it’s Bollywood or television, there has always been mediocrity in the industry. The younger generation is aware that quality is what endures over time thanks to the development of OTT and exposure to such a wide variety of international content. Since I want to stay current, I can honestly say that I do not feel there is an age gap. Therefore, I prefer to adjust to it if it is positive. If there is a shift in the way new hires work. Or think or in the new setup,” she says.
The actress states that she would “Definitely like to make something like a Panchayat, or a Baarish, or anything like This is Us. Something that strikes the viewer’s heart.” when asked what kind of web series she would like to produce.
