Actress Huma Qureshi describes how the story of her new web series ‘Mithya’ goes beyond the usual connotation of the word ‘lying,’ and examines the dangerous side of the truth that could alter reality. She plays a teacher in the series, and she portrays how a harsh reality becomes a haunting feature of her life, and she seeks sanctuary in lying to deal with the situation, but it only makes things worse.
“Look, everyone lies, and that is the reality. If somebody claims that I do not lie, they are telling the truth. However, there are other types of lies that we employ in communication, such as white lies, truth manipulation, useful lies, and innocuous lies, because we are all trying to achieve something by doing so. A lie, on the other hand, is harmful, it is cruel, and it causes people to distrust each other. But the truth may also be hazardous, and truth can be more devastating than one can think at times. Our story, in an unusual twist. Blurs those distinctions and delves further into the meanings of those two terms, truth and deception,” Huma told IANS when asked about her meaning of the word Mithya.
Huma has collaborated on the show with Avantika Dassani, the daughter of Bhagyashree of ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ fame. She talks about how working with Avantika brought her back to her first film, ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur.’
On February 18, the online series ‘Mithya,’ directed by Rohan Sippy and starring Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Rajit Kapur, will premiere on ZEE5.
