The news that good friends Jackie Shroff and Madhur Bhandarkar would be collaborating on a film is causing quite a stir in the industry. Jackie confirmed the news to ETimes, adding, “I am working on a project with Madhur Bhandarkar, which is most likely for an OTT platform.”
Jackie and Madhur previously worked together on the cop film ‘Aan’ (2004). Madhur had previously worked as an assistant director with Jackie on Ramgopal Varma’s ‘Rangeela’ in 1995. The actor is currently based in Lonavala, where he is involved in organic farming. He’ll be back in Mumbai shortly for his job duties.
“I also have another film project produced by Hardik Gujjar and I will also be filming for a reality program as a guest,” he said, listing his forthcoming commitments.
When asked how he feels about working with Madhur again, Jackie said, “I’ve known him since my film ‘Dhoodh Ka Karz.’ He has worked as a co-actor, assistant director, and now director for me. I thought he’d make a great director. He briefed me for every shot when he was an assistant. He is now a National Award-winning filmmaker. Madhu will direct me after more than a decade.”
Jackie has Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi,’ Katrina Kaif’s ‘Phone Bhoot,’ and Pratik Gandhi’s ‘Athithi Bhooto Bhava’ in the works. Jackie has previously stated in an interview with ETimes that it is not the duration of the job that counts to him. Rather what he is doing.
“It’s always the strength, not the length. ‘Mission Kashmir,’ ‘Yaadein,’ ‘Khalnayak,’ and a slew of other films were kept short and sweet. I wouldn’t bore the audience to death on screen. That’s how I like it, too” he stated.
